BIOGRAPHY

Mary Rhodes is the leading female sports news presenter on the BBC.  She can be seen regularly on BBC 1 News bulletins and heard on Radio 4’s flagship ‘Today’ programme. Mary has covered major events including Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon and Cricket World Cup. She has 15 years experience as a journalist and broadcaster in radio and television. Mary also recently presented BBC 1 Sunday morning Heaven and Earth Show and continues to report for the programme.

Mary appears regularly on BBC 1, across weekend bulletins and the Ten o’clock News. She has covered stories for the One o’clock, Six o’clock and Ten o’clock News Programmes, reporting from many major events, including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon and Cricket World Cup. She is the first woman to regularly present sport on Radio 4’s Today Programme. Mary recently recorded audio diaries and wrote for the Today website on training for the London Marathon. She is also the main female sport presenter on BBC World.

Mary started as a news reporter for BBC Hereford and Worcester in 1990. She worked as a journalist for a number of local stations before joining the BBC Radio Sports team in 1995, presenting and reporting for Radio 1, 2 and 5. Mary was one of the first sport presenters at the launch of News 24 in 1997 and became the first sport presenter on BBC 1 Ten o’clock News in 2000.

Mary has written travel articles for The Guardian and presents “The Challenge” golf programme for Channel Four and Sky Television. She is an experienced conference facilitator, corporate host and media trainer.
